A walk taking in varied Shropshire countryside and passing near Alverley and Coton Hall - from the river via fields, tracks, woods and hills (not steep).

Moderate walk from Bishop’s Castle taking in Cwmmawr Dingle, Reilthtop, Offa’s Dyke and Bishop’s Moat. Parking at the livestock market GR SO 324887, nearest postcode SY9 5AQ.

Join the Telford & East Shropshire group for a 9.0 mile strenuous walk.

Walk through woods, fields and up to Offa's Dyke path on Eglwyseg Mountain to Castell Dinas Bran. Then back along the Llangollen canal. Please note earlier meeting time at FRP of 9am (not 9.30).

Thursday, 5th October 2017: Short & Social - Wilfred Owen's Footsteps

Join the Telford & East Shropshire group for a 5.0 mile leisurely walk.

Start opposite Marks & Spencers, Castle St, Shrewsbury. Follow river downstream, past weir to Monkmoor Bridge. Return along opposite bank following the regular Sunday walk of War Poet Wilfred Owen and his brother, pre-WW1. Continue past Shrewsbury School to finish walk at Bear Steps. Many teashops and cafes in immediate vicinity.

Snailbeach to Whitegrit Turn on A488. Depart for Snailbeach on Minsterley Motors 553 bus leaving Shrewsbury bus station at 10:30. We will aim to get the return bus at 15:54
