A very scenic walk via hills and woods around the Onny Valley passing through Norton Camp, Stoke Wood and Sallow Coppice to see bluebells in abundance. May be muddy in parts. Chance for a cup of tea at the end.

EARLY START.  A moderate plus walk in the Snowdonia National Park. Beddgelert, Cwm Bychan and the Aberglasyn Pass.  Zone F.

Using parts of Offa’s Dyke & Oswald’s Trail via Trefonen and Trelach. A number of reasonable climbs, with one steep one.

A walk via part of the Shropshire Way, through woodlands to the Abbey and round Haughmond Hill. Generally flat walking. Lunch at Haughmond Hill Cafe (snacks, menu www.haughmond hill cafe) or you can bring your own picnic if you wish.

Sunday, 7th May 2017: Uffington to Haughmond Hill and Sundorne Castle

Join the Shrewsbury group for a 0.0 mile moderate walk.

Uffington/Haughmond Hill/Haughmond Abbey/Sunderton and Sundorne Castle. 8 .5 miles moderate. The route follows the Shropshire Way to cross The Shropshire Union Canal and to then tackle the short, steepish ascent to the summit of this much loved Hill. Haughmond is only 503 feet (153 metres) high but the views of Shrewsbury and surrounding area are truly spectacular in clear weather.. Then along the top to the abbey, through Haughmond Farm to Sunderton and Sundorne Castle, to finish in Uffington. Some of the paths can be muddy. But otherwise the walk is on mainly level good tracks and quiet lanes. Refreshments can be enjoyed at The Corbet Arms.
